Digital energy meters

Flemish start-up Ella Energy is launching an AI platform that helps SMEs cut their energy costs using data from their digital meter. For 45 euros a month, the system analyses quarter-hourly data and turns it into concrete recommendations — no extra hardware, no consultant. Flanders counts 97,000 professional access points for which this type of energy management is relevant, yet most leave the data untouched.

"There is more energy data available than ever, but too little of it is turned into action. Many SMEs only act once the bill rises. We want to shift energy management from reactive to proactive." — Benedicte Boonefaes, co-founder

AI on two levels

Companies connect their Fluvius meter and immediately receive insights based on historical data — up to three years of quarter-hourly data. The platform uses AI on two levels: machine learning analyses consumption patterns, predicts normal usage and detects anomalies, and generative AI translates those findings into clear alerts for owners, CFOs or energy managers.

The gap in the market

The ambition is clear: not to build yet another dashboard no one opens. Many companies already focus on batteries, flexibility and smart control, while they haven't properly mapped their base consumption. That's why Ella Energy deliberately targets that first part of energy use.

The ambition

The platform already has more than 500 connections to digital meters and aims to manage 2,000 active SME customers this year. After Flanders, Ella Energy wants to expand to other European markets where quarter-hourly data is available.
